swimming in the Saale/pools

Swimming in the river Saale which floats through Jena is allowed but a bit dangerous. If you are brave enough we recommend you some swimming spots for you. Jena also has 4 Swimming Pools, 2 indoors and 2 outdoors.

Boating on the Saale

There are some companies around Jena where to rent boats for a trip on the Saale: Saalestrand Kanu.

The dangerous tiny animals became active in the summer. Click here for more information
During and after beeing in the nature you should check your body for ticks which suck your blood and can transfer deaseses.
You can also get vaccinated against one of the deaseses.

It is important to protect yourself against the UV of the sun! Especially when you have pale skin and it is strong sun light.
