In Thuringa there are many lakes for a day trip where we recommend you going to. In most of them you can also go swimming.

Swimming in the river Saale which floats through Jena is allowed but a bit dangerous. If you are brave enough we recommend you some swimming spots for you. Jena also has 4 Swimming Pools, 2 indoors and 2 outdoors.

There are some companies around Jena where to rent boats for a trip on the Saale: Saalestrand Kanu.

You can also get vaccinated against one of the deaseses.
