The Sommer der Begegnungen focuses on two main activities: a scenic boat trip along the Saale River from Jena to Dornburg, and a series of integration-focused beach volleyball events. Both aim to help international students explore the region, build friendships, and overcome cultural barriers through shared experiences. The project’s innovative approach lies in blending nature, sport, and culture into inclusive, low-cost events that anyone can join, regardless of income. By doing so, it promotes integration, deepens intercultural understanding, and strengthens social participation—turning summer into a season of discovery, connection, and belonging.
