It is indeed one of the most visit places in Thuringia. The Gorge is not long, around 2.5 km. It is recommended to take a bus from Eisenach to Hohe Sohne and walk downhill to Eisenach.
The route is between high stones and part of the way the water is flowing under your feet. In the winter time, mind that some part of the route might be muddy.
